VOLUNTEER COMMITTEES

ADMISSIONS/ WILL CALL – Check tickets and credentials at admission gates. Volunteers will use scanners to scan tickets and credential barcodes upon entrance. Issue and manage tickets at Will Call. Sell tickets for walk up sales. Provide general information to spectators. Must be 21 years of age or older. Shifts Thursday – Sunday with the majority of shifts Friday – Sunday

CADDIE SERVICES – Staff caddie headquarters throughout tournament week.  Manage caddie registration process and check-out and return of caddie bibs, towels, yardage books.  Manage Pro-Am caddies and maintain a list of local caddies available to work.  Must be 21 years of age or older.  Shifts Monday – Sunday 

COURTESY CARS & TRANSPORTATION – Shifts for this committee will start the weekend before the tournament and will continue through the Monday following the event. Volunteers will drive shuttle vehicles between Flint and Detroit airports, hotels and course for players and family members. You will not be driving your own vehicle.  It is intended to schedule volunteers to shuttle a specific player based on their flight plans as they arrive and return home after the tournament.  Must have a valid driver's license and be 25 years of age or older. Background check required. Shifts Friday, August 15 – Tuesday, August 26

GOLF CARTS & ADA CART SHUTTLE – Role 1:  Maintain/distribute carts:  Use a predetermined list of those authorized to receive a cart. Track keys.  Check carts in and out.  Keep electric carts charged when not checked out.  Role 2:  Drive the ADA shuttle cart on a specific route near/on the golf course to assist spectators who may have physical limitations.  Feel comfortable driving the larger 4 or 6 passenger carts through a crowd and turning the cart around in limited space.  Training for the ADA Shuttle drivers will occur at the course to assure the drivers are certain of the route and expectations while driving. This committee will also assist with placing evacuation carts on course Thursday night. Anyone driving a cart must be at least 21 years old with a valid driver’s license. Shifts Monday – Sunday, with majority of shifts Friday - Sunday

HOLE MARSHALS – Maintain walkways throughout the golf course, provide gallery control and assist with player evacuation from the golf course should the tournament have a weather delay. Shifts Wednesday – Sunday with majority of shifts Friday - Sunday

HOSPITALITY & CLUBHOUSE CREDENTIALS – Check and scan tickets & credentials for clubhouse and hospitality venues. Issue wristbands for hospitality venues. Ensure tournament guests have proper credentials to enter the clubhouse and on-course hospitality venues. Act as liaison for corporate clients in various hospitality areas. Know course map to assist spectators find their destination. Shifts Thursday – Sunday with the majority of shifts Friday - Sunday

MILITARY TENT – Dow VET Den - Ensure only those with proper credentials are admitted into the Military Tent hospitality venue. Pass out snacks and water and engage with veterans and active military. Educate patrons on the purpose of the venue. Shifts Thursday – Sunday

ON-COURSE SERVICES - Stock and deliver on-course refreshments and ice to tee boxes. Deliver on course volunteer lunches. This includes set-up the weekend prior to tournament and final clean-up on Monday following tournament week.  Requiring heavy lifting and manual labor, must consider physical demands of lifting and being active during a shift. Will work in teams throughout the day. Must be 18 years of age or older. Junior Volunteers ages 14-17 are welcome to serve alongside a parent/guardian. Shifts Sunday, August 17 – Monday, August 25 with majority of shifts Friday – Sunday

PRACTICE RANGE – Maintain driving range and practice areas, provide gallery control and assist with player evacuation from the golf course should the tournament have a weather delay. Change name cards, gather, sort and fill baskets with golf balls, and assist with moving the driving range off site on the afternoon of the concert. Shifts Monday – Sunday

SHOTLink – SHOTLink will be on 2 holes of the golf course. This team will record and transmit shot locations of professionals to the SHOTLink system while stationed greenside or at fairway landing zones. Spotters will assist fairway operators with locating ball positions and identifying situations where a shot may be obstructed. Shifts Friday - Sunday with a Mandatory training on Thursday 

SPECIAL EVENTS – Assist with activating the Adaptive Golf Clinic, Women of Influence luncheon and Family Fun Night on Thursday, concert on Hole 17 Friday, and concert on the Driving Range Saturday of tournament week. This will include assisting with set-up for events, assisting with event registration, greeting guests, scanning tickets and being an ambassador of the tournament to help guests find different locations. This also includes ensuring only those with proper credentials are in zoned off areas. Shifts Monday & Thursday – Sunday

STANDARD BEARERS – Accompany a group of professionals for 18 holes with a two sided sign called a standard to identify golfers and their scores. Responsible for updating the sign scores after each hole. Must be able to walk 18 holes of golf & carry a standard (5lbs.) for an entire round. Some golf knowledge is helpful. This is a free junior volunteer position for volunteers 13 – 17 years of age. Must be 13 years of age or older. Shifts Thursday – Sunday with majority of shifts Friday – Sunday

TRAFFIC & PARKING – Assist with parking vehicles at Cook-Mason school.  Volunteers will help direct patrons where to park their car and direct them to the shuttle to the golf course. This will include ensuring only those with proper credentials are allowed into the appropriate parking lots. Must be at least 21 years of age or older. Shifts Wednesday & Thursday

VOLUNTEER HEADQUARTERS – Operation of the volunteer headquarters facility during Tournament week. Provide an upbeat atmosphere for fellow volunteers. Daily tasks may include, but are not limited to, distributing volunteer uniforms/packages that were not picked up at training, assist with recording volunteer attendance, managing radio distribution, assisting with coffee and meal set up/distribution, and tidying up headquarters. Shifts Monday - Sunday

WALKING SCORERS – Record accurate hole-by-hole information for each player in group and transmit this information to Scoring Central via handheld computers.Assist Standard Bearer keep the correct score on the standard. Golf knowledge is necessary to work this committee. Must be comfortable walking 18 holes while carrying a handheld computer regardless of weather conditions. Must work a Wednesday or Thursday to work Friday – Sunday shifts. If Wednesday or Thursday Shift is cancelled, Friday – Sunday assignment will be lost. Must be 18 years of age or older. Shifts Wednesday - Sunday
