Volunteer registration for the 2024 Ally Challenge presented by McLaren will open in the spring of 2024.

 

The seventh playing of The Ally Challenge presented by McLaren will take place August 19-25, 2024 at Warwick Hills Golf and Country Club. 

Volunteering for The Ally Challenge is a great way to receive a first-hand behind the ropes experience, spend time with friends, co-workers, etc. and help support the local community.

ADMISSIONS/ WILL CALL
 Check tickets and credentials at various admission gates. Volunteers will use scanners to scan tickets and credential barcodes upon entrance.  Issue and manage tickets at Will Call that are left for spectators or professionals. Sell tickets for walk up sales. Provide general information to spectators. Must be 21 years of age or older. Shifts Thursday – Sunday with the majority of shifts Friday – Sunday  

 

GOLF CARTS & ADA CART SHUTTLE  Role 1: Maintain/distribute carts: Use a predetermined list of those authorized to receive a cart. Track keys.  Check carts in and out. Keep electric carts charged when not checked out. Role 2:  Drive the ADA shuttle cart on a specific route near/on the golf course to assist spectators who may have physical limitations. Feel comfortable driving the larger 4 or 6 passenger carts through a crowd and turning the cart around in limited space. Training for the ADA Shuttle drivers will occur at the course to assure the drivers are certain of the route and expectations while driving. This committee will also assist with placing evacuation carts on course Thursday night. Anyone driving a cart must be at least 21 years old with a currently valid driver’s license. Shifts Wednesday – Sunday with the majority of shifts Friday – Sunday

 

HOSPITALITY & CLUBHOUSE CREDENTIALS  Ensure only those with proper credentials are admitted into the clubhouse and on-course hospitality venues and act as concierge for VIP guests. Know course map to assist spectators find their destination. Must be at least 21 years of age or older. Shifts Wednesday – Sunday with the majority of shifts Friday - Sunday

 

MARSHAL FLEX TEAM – The members of this group will be assigned to support targeted areas of need as they develop throughout the tournament. Assignments will include being directed to an area that is experiencing significant spectator or player traffic, filling in spots on tee boxes, greens, landing areas and crosswalks. Will assist with on-course delivery of lunches to marshals. Could include assisting players move through crowds on course. Could be assigned to a specific hole if there is a need. These individuals will enjoy an opportunity to experience the event from an array of possible marshal assignments. Shifts Wednesday – Sunday with majority of shifts Friday  Sunday

 

MARSHALS – Maintain walkways throughout the golf course, provide gallery control and assist with player evacuation from the golf course should the tournament have a weather delay. Must be 18 years of age or older. Shifts Wednesday – Sunday with majority of shifts Friday  Sunday

 

MILITARY TENT - Dow VetDen – Ensure only those with proper credentials are admitted into the Military Tent - Dow VetDen hospitality venue. Pass out snacks and water and engage with veterans and active military. Educate Patrons on the purpose of the venue. Must be at least 21 years of age or older. Shifts Thursday – Sunday 

 

ON-COURSE SERVICES  Stock and deliver on-course refreshments and ice to tee boxes, tee sheets, magazines, and Pairing Guides to appropriate locations. This includes set-up the weekend prior to tournament and final clean-up on Monday following tournament week.  Requiring heavy lifting and manual labor, must consider physical demands of lifting and being active during a shift. Will work in teams throughout the day. Must be 18 years of age or older. Junior Volunteers ages 14-17 are welcome to serve alongside a parent/guardian. Shifts Sunday, August 21 – Monday, August 29 with majority of shifts Friday – Sunday

 

PRACTICE RANGE  Maintain driving range and practice areas, provide gallery control and assist with player evacuation from the golf course should the tournament have a weather delay. Change name cards, collect balls, and assist with moving the driving range off site on Saturday afternoon for the concert. Shifts Monday – Sunday

 

SHOTLink   SHOTLink will be on 2 holes of the golf course. This team will record and transmit shot locations of professionals to the SHOTLink system while stationed greenside or at fairway landing zones. Spotters will assist fairway operators with locating ball positions and identifying situations where a shot may be obstructed. Shifts Friday - Sunday with a Mandatory training on Wednesday or Thursday of tournament week

 

STANDARD BEARER - Carry a two-sided scoring standard (5-10lbs.), which is a portable status board for posting players' scores to keep spectators updated on how each player stands with respect to par, both in the round being played and cumulatively. This is a free junior volunteer position. Must be 13 years of age or older. Children 13-17 can volunteer in this committee for free, please use registration code 22BEAR when registering. Shifts Thursday – Sunday with majority of shifts Friday – Sunday

 

TOURNAMENT ACTIVATION & INFORMATION  Help greet and direct patrons, distribute pairing sheets, answer questions, and assist at main entrances. Volunteers will be working Thursday through Sunday at the main Public Entrancesand at patron crossing points, assist with managing the Fan Zone/Kid Zone areas, assist with Family Fun Night and other tournament activations on course. This position may require standing for long periods of time and volunteers must be 18 years of age or older. Shifts Thursday  Sunday

 

TRAFFIC & PARKING  Assist with activating parking around special events planned in association with tournament week. This will include ensuring only those with proper credentials are allowed into the appropriate parking lots. This may require using a Ticketmaster scanner to scan digital parking tickets or collect payment to park when necessary. Help direct patrons on where to park their car and direct them to the shuttle to the golf course. Must be at least 21 years of age or older. Shifts Wednesday & Thursday

 

VOLUNTEER HEADQUARTERS – Operation of the volunteer headquarters facility during Tournament week. Provide an upbeat atmosphere for fellow volunteers. Daily tasks may include, but are not limited to, distributing volunteer uniforms/packages that were not picked up at training, assist with recording volunteer attendance, managing radio distribution, assisting with coffee and meal set up/distribution, and tidying up headquarters. Must be 21 years of age or older. Shifts Monday  Sunday
