GRAND BLANC, Mich. – Tournament officials announced today that the fourth playing of The Ally Challenge presented by McLaren, concluded August 29, 2021, at Warwick Hills Golf & Country Club, raised $1,315,678 for charitable organizations in southeastern Michigan and beyond. The 2021 amount surpasses the $1 million dollar mark for the second time in the event’s brief history.
GRAND BLANC, Mich. – Tournament Officials announced today the final field for the fourth playing of The Ally Challenge presented by McLaren at Warwick Hills Golf and Country Club in Grand Blanc, Mich. This elite roster of 82* players collectively represent 254 PGA TOUR Champions victories, including 53 senior major championship titles from 24 different players. The field¾arguably the best of the season¾also contains nine World Golf Hall of Fame members and nine of the top-10 players in the Charles Schwab Cup ranking, including 2021 U.S. Ryder Cup Captain Steve Stricker.
Past winners of the Buick Open will be well represented again this year for The Ally Challenge presented by McLaren. Nine members of that esteemed fraternity will be competing at Warwick Hills, including Woody Austin, Fred Couples, Jim Furyk (2020 The Ally Challenge champion), Billy Mayfair, Rocco Mediate, Tom Pernice, Jr., Kenny Perry, Vijay Singh and Scott Verplank.
GRAND BLANC, Mich. – Officials of The Ally Challenge presented by McLaren announced today that Detroit Red Wings head coach Jeff Blashill is the fourth member of the tournament’s marquee special event, the Celebrity Shootout. Blashill joins golf’s greatest champion Jack Nicklaus; fellow World Golf Hall-of-Famer Lee Trevino; and NCAA Men’s Basketball title-winning head coach Tom Izzo of Michigan State University to create a powerhouse foursome that will compete in an exhibition match to benefit charity.
The Celebrity Shootout will take place on Saturday, August 28 - following the last tournament pairing of round two - and begin on Hole No. 10 at Warwick Hills Golf & Country Club.

The tournament has also accepted commitments from two local PGA Professionals receiving sponsor exemptions into this year’s field: Oakhurst Golf and Country Club’s George Bowman and Traverse City Golf and Country Club’s Scott Hebert.

The Ally Challenge presented by McLaren opened ticket sales for the 2021 tournament on November 20 of last year, with the goal of hosting fans at Warwick Hills Golf & Country Club the week of August 23. Based on the CDC’s new guidance relative to fully vaccinated and unvaccinated individuals and the State of Michigan’s updated ‘Vacc to Normal’ plan released yesterday, we are pleased to announce that the 2021 tournament will welcome fans at 100% capacity for the fourth playing of The Ally Challenge, including the Community Concert on Saturday, August 28, featuring Little Big Town.

The 2021 Ally Challenge is scheduled for the week of August 23-29 at historic Warwick Hills Golf and Country Club.
“Volunteers play an essential role in every aspect of The Ally Challenge presented by McLaren and are vital to our goal of providing charitable dollars to the community,” said tournament director Matt Stepnes. “Thanks in large part to the efforts of this very special group of people, The Ally Challenge has raised nearly $3.2 million in support of local charities in the greater Flint area and beyond since the inaugural event in 2018. GRAND BLANC, Mich. – Tournament officials announced today that the primary beneficiary of net proceeds for the fourth-annual The Ally Challenge presented by McLaren will be the United Way of Genesee County (UWGC). The 2021 tournament will mark the third consecutive year that UWGC has been included as a primary beneficiary of The Ally Challenge.
